🧭 Location & Geography

 ✥ Yercaud sits at an altitude of 4,970 feet (1,515 meters) above sea level in the Shevaroy Hills, which are part of the Eastern Ghats.

 ✥ Unlike many other hill stations, Yercaud is known for its dense forests, coffee plantations, and relatively cool but not chilly climate, making it perfect year-round.

🕰️ History

 ✥ The name “Yercaud” comes from Tamil words "Yeri" (lake) and "Kaadu" (forest) — meaning Lake Forest.

 ✥ It was developed during the British colonial era, and many of the bungalows and estates in the region reflect British architectural influence.

 ✥ Scottish collector David Cockburn, often called the "Father of Yercaud," played a key role in developing the region, especially in terms of agriculture and plantations.
