📖Mythological Origin
According to ancient legend:
- Once, a cowherd noticed his cow releasing milk on an anthill under a Vengai (tree).
- The villagers discovered a divine light or self-manifested idol (Swayambhu Murthy) of Goddess Mariamman inside.
- The goddess appeared in the villagers’ dreams and ordered them to build a temple at that spot.
- Hence, the shrine was established, and the goddess came to be known as Bannari Amman, who blesses her devotees with protection and prosperity.
