🛕Basic Details & Location

🌸History & Legend

• The temple is believed to have been built around 1500 AD (16th century). 
• Legend says that a 6-foot tall Vinayagar (Ganesha) idol was being transported from Madurai to be installed in the Perur Pateeswarar Temple. During the transport, one of the cart’s axles broke near the location now called Eachanari. The idol could not be moved further. The devotees interpreted this as a divine sign, and they installed the deity at that spot and built the temple there. 
• Because of that legend, the deity is popularly considered to have “arisen” (or “became fixed”) at that spot, giving the name “Eachanari Vinayagar.”
